The Gym Session for Your Golf

Do you want to see steady and ongoing improvement in your golf? Purposeful PracticeTM is about establishing fundamental techniques and continuously refining your skills to be effective in all areas of the game.

Purposeful PracticeTM is designed by Dr. Noel Rousseau to fill the chasm left by traditional approaches to golf coaching; that gap in learning is skill acquisition.
The PP concept is of structured group practice with Noel giving technical feedback, setting skill challenges and creating game simulations to maximise your practice time.

You will work on key aspects of technique and the fundamental sub-skills necessary to play the game well. Skills such as club face control, dynamic stability, impact dynamics, kinematic sequencing and that's just the long game.

Core principles of motor learning and mindfulness of task are harnessed to ensure that you develop a deep and robust control of the skills and can apply them on the course.

The Purposeful Practice classes have enabled me to meet a circle of players of a similar standard to myself who have become my regular playing partners.

I’ve found that the regular reinforcement of these fundamentals, in a group environment, engenders a community spirit, and is a very powerful lesson. Many thanks for this.

I can honestly say that in every single Purposeful Practice session I have learnt something new. I would recommend this programme to anyone who wants to improve their golf.

Purposeful Practice sessions have provided an understanding of the theory behind what we are meant to be doing and how to execute various shots, so that I’m now practicing the right way of doing things rather than continuing my old bad habits.

My chipping and putting have improved incredibly. The weekly coaching by Noel is brilliantly delivered, enforces new skills, makes practice purposeful and fun and embeds the new skills into my game.

The sessions have allowed me to combine focused practice of my own development areas under the watchful eye of a pro, providing feedback and "tweaks" as I practice. My game and confidence has really improved as a result of these courses.

These sessions combine the best of structured practice and expert coaching with some 'personal time' and friendly competitions to try to make it 'real'. It is also great to work with the same group of players and I will certainly sign up again.

The combination of group-wide coaching and competitive challenges paired with individual guidance has proved to be an engaging way of developing core-principles.

Each 1 hour session is split into 3 areas:

Individual Feedback

Individual Feedback

Regular feedback is pivotal to the continual development of your game. If these sessions supplement your individual programme with Noel then you will have clear direction and the continuity of feedback will keep you from wasting valuable practice time.

Session Practice Task

Session Practice Task

Each session will focus on a fundamental technique or skill principle that serves as new learning for some and continual refinement for others. These principles are carefully chosen to have maximum impact and are at the core of any technical model. The tasks are structured so that we revisit the same areas again and again with subtle variation.

Game Simulation and Competitive Practice

Game Simulation and Competitive Practice

In no other sport do the practice and play environments differ so drastically; often encapsulated by the familiar phrase, "I'm good on the range but can't take it to the course!'. This part of the session is designed to simulate game play, offer exposure to mild pressure and act as a measure of your progress. We stick to several core challenges in order to chart your improvement over time.

Practice Community

Something hard to quantify occurs when people practice as part of a community. This effect is seen in the fitness industry with motivation and moral being obvious benefactors. Information, drills and progress are shared among the group via the revolutionary Edufii platform.

Measured
You progress is measured through engaging skills challenges and there is something wonderfully motivating about training in a group of like minded golfers committed to improvement; at what ever level that may be.
How long is the course?
As long as you want to keep improving. There is no improvement without time and commitment so although the courses currently run in 16 week blocks they will run back to back throughout the year.
Who is the class for?
This is not suitable for beginners but beyond that, anyone committed to improving their game and supporting others in the same quest. Typically, a group is made up of a mix from 6 to 28 handicap. A handicap is not a necessity but attitude effort and reflection are.
